Just received the Automatic Chicken Coop Door and we're in the process of putting it together. It looks like it's really sturdy and made of quality materials. The only problem thus far is that the timer that comes with it says "Indoor use only." That freaks us out a little bit considering that we live in the North West and we get rain and snow in the winters. We're considering going to Home Depot and getting a new outdoor timer but it's a shame that we already paid so much and got an indoor timer.

I build everything my self but opted for this pre-built door. It is excellent.

Well constructed door, works flawless. Had a problem with the timer and replaced it with a high quality outdoor unit. Super easy install.

This is very high quality! The "plastic" wood that it is made of is great since you don't have to paint it and it won't rot. Also, the timer works great with it, and I was able to install it myself without getting my husband to do it! I really like the metal door. Just make sure you clean the walking surface off every so often to keep it clear of bedding so it will close perfectly.

Hello all! I purchased this door as a joke sort of, I mean it was not a joke purchase but It was comical to me that I am now a "farmer." But honestly, as comical as it may be to me that I now have electricity running to my coop, owning chickens has never been easier. The door works amazingly and helps me out a lot with traveling. I am a student and go home frequently for family and holidays, and before I was worried my roommates would have to tend to my chickens. Now I can leave them for a few days and know they are safe and have friends check up on them at their convenience instead of at 6 am. we all know how early college students wake up. thank you, I strongly advise anyone who is considering this product to buy it.

This door is flawless! Very easy to install and works like a charm. The materials it's made of are weather proof and should last a LONG TIME. Gives me some peace of mind when I'm not there to close the coop up in the evening. Be sure to put the wiring and timers where the birds can't get to them. I used a round ice cream bucket with part of the bottom cut out, screwed it to the wall over the controls and put the lid back on. They can't roost on it and they can't get to the wires and timer. I'm going to buy a second one for the run.

I have this item for several months, and it works fine. I had to make a slight modification because I have a concrete floor, so had to fasten it to the wall at the bottom with angle brackets from the hardware store -- no big deal. My one quibble: wish there was a battery back-up option for when the power goes out.

The door assembly is very well built and sturdy. The mechanism is completely protected by the housing so that it won't collect dirt and feathers. The timer that shipped with it, however, is a flimsy light timer. The instructions with the door say to use a heavyduty timer that is intended for outdoor use or appliance use. This thing is useless. It loses 3 hours (or gains 3 hours) a day depending on its mood. Fleming has promised me a replacement (it hasn't arrived yet), but if it is the same type shipped originally, I'll just demote it to a light timer in the house. I wouldn't trust it on something as important as a door to the coop. It's a shame that a $200 door ships with a $5 timer when a really good one is only a few dollars more. Easy install and quality built item (aluminum door/cover and plastic wood for the frames). I had it up and running in 15 minutes since the unit came all assembled. The only thing I had changed after a few days was the timer that it had came with. Sometimes the tab(s) woulld shift which may have caused the timer to be off a little each day. I switched to a timer with removable clips and that resloved the issue. The door itself closes nice and slow with no problems since the chickens go in earlier than what I have set the door to close at night. Would purchase again.

We've only had the door installed for a few days, but so far it's been great. It was very easy to install & works great. Now my hens can come out in the morning when they want & I don't have to worry about letting them out or shutting them in at night. everything is included that you need. The instructions are a little confusing, but if you follow the quick guide you will do fine. It hasn't been cold yet, so we'll see how that goes with the snow & ice here, but so far so good.
